What does it mean to brush your hair until it crackles?

I read that in a book. A woman brushed her hair until it crackled. Did she get static or something? Seems like ';crackling'; would be bad for your hair. Enlighten me.What does it mean to brush your hair until it crackles?

I have silky, shiny very long healthy hair, she probably don't know what she's talking about. I know more about hair than most cosmetologists but I don't have time to write a book, I'd rather help others online, it's much quicker, and I don't need the $$$$. Anyone can write a book, and it sure got your attention!!!! I hope it wasn't a best seller.
