Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?

ugh It takes me so long to make my ponytail neat, especially if I wear it up high. Half the time it's easier to wear it down (or in a really low pony/ bun)Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
Considering the fact that I have very curly hair, brushing it just separates the curls and causes them to become frizzy and bushy, making it even harder to pull up into a neat ponytail. A neat ponytail is almost impossible with a ton of curls without the use of a million products and a lot of time.Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
Neat? lol. My hair doesn't do neat. I just throw it up. :]

mine?

Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?

I find it hard. My hair always bunches up at the top and gets tangled. :(Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
It's difficult with my thick hair.Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
its easy, but it ends up looking unnatural. what i do now is flip my head upside down and then flip my hair back. while it is against my head with no part, i gather it into a ponytail, wayyyy easier than involving a comb
It's pretty hard but I have very thick hair.

Can you brush your hair AND brush your teeth simultaneously?

lol i did this morning

i was late for work

i was also getting dressedCan you brush your hair AND brush your teeth simultaneously?
I've done it before, yes. But I prefer to focus on each one separately for optimal results [:

haha, just kidding. Can you brush your hair AND brush your teeth simultaneously?
isn't that like patting your head and rubbing your tummy...

ok now switch
Never tried it
noooooo

Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?

no its actually a good thing. it straightens out the hair.Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
Yes i think it is. I've heard when your hair is wet it stretches so when you brush it, it will break your hair. So get a good wide tooth comb to use when your hair is wet.

I got a cheap wide tooth comb from wal-mart and it doesn't pull or anything. Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
I've heard that hair is weaker when it's wet because the water causes it to expand. But I've had no problems combing wet hair.
If your hair is curly STAY AWAY FROM THE BRUSH!!!!.

If it is not then it is ok.
I have heard that it is bad - it can cause breakage. I have a large wide toother comb that I may use in the shower with conditioner on my hair - but I never brush my hair when it is wet. My hair comes down about mid back.
Your hair is more fragile when it is wet, so brushing your hair can cause breakage. Use a wide toothed comb, and brush after it's mostly dry.
Seems like more of my hair comes out when I brush it when wet. I use a leave in conditioner or cream and then use a wide-toothed comb to get the tangles out.
no, at lease i dont think so, but thats just me.
yes, use a a wide tooth comb instead. You know those horrible little fly-aways ...that's caused by hair breakage from a regular brush.
yes can give your hair split ends make sure your hair has been towel dried b4 you brush it use a blow dryer on low heat while brushing and use a leave in conditioner to give you hair sum volume
i think that it is a good thing. i do it everyday. it does help get out your knots.

  • Is it bad to brush your hair often?

Brushing your hair is not bad but how you brush it can harm your hair. To untangle your hair always start from the tips and gradually work your way up. Brushing your hair also stimulates your hair follicles which in turn can help your hair grow faster. Is it bad to brush your hair often?
yes it is bad to brush your hair. Brush or comb lightly no more than once a day %26amp; use a wide toothed brush or comb. Brushing, combing hair stretches hair causing split ends the less you do it the healthier %26amp; stronger your hair will be, ( I brush mine no more than once every other day ) hope this helps (*.!.*) c2009Is it bad to brush your hair often?
um no, unless you want a greasy frizzball head!
brush your hair 100 times aday
    yah

When trying to get waves, do you or don't you brush your hair after taking off the durag?

umm i would like to know if you are supposed to brush your hair after taking your durag off when trying to get 360 waves... i have heard both yes and no. plz help! When trying to get waves, do you or don't you brush your hair after taking off the durag?
Really I wouldn't even use the rag because it takes forever to start working. In my opinion the best product is Murrays in a small brown container. Get a Wal-Mart. But if you do continue using the rag brush AFTER.When trying to get waves, do you or don't you brush your hair after taking off the durag?
i brush my hair after i take olive oil for my hair...oil give my hair smooth and easy to manage

Do you have to brush your hair after useing hairspray?

    No, you don't have to.

But I do it, since my hair feels too sticky if I don't.Do you have to brush your hair after useing hairspray?
Not really. Usually you use hair spray on a finished style, to lock it in place.Do you have to brush your hair after useing hairspray?
NO NO NO do not do that. it just undoos the hairspray and becomes frizzy
Nope....it's better not to so it will not get tangeled.
No, because it could get clumpy or you could get REALLY bad tangels.
Nah. don't. it's going to mess your hair up

but when my mom does my hair..she usese hair spray then uses her hands to smooth it down so my hair doesn't stick up! =]
    um definatly NOT
I don't. Hairspray is meant to hold your style in place, so if you brush it through it will not only mess up your hairstyle, you will also get knots or tangles.

When you brush your hair extensions?

Are they suposed to get thinner?

Like my hair in my extensions is falling outWhen you brush your hair extensions?
    Comb them slowly.

    they might fall out

Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?

Yeah, its easy.Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
    No, not easy.

    Haha, I'm a perfectionist.

I can never get it in a perfect ponytail.

There's always a bump, or a loose hair.Do you find it very easy or not to neatly brush your hair and then tie up equally neatly in a ponytail ?
Its kind of hard for me to do the ponytail part but brushing my hair is easy. I love doing it. It makes my hair so soft =)
no..i never could pull my hair up..i have to lay over my bed and let gravity help me make it neat.(and its still not neat even then)
    yes. it's easy.
No easy. I have SO much hair though(:

How are you suppose to brush your hair in order to get waves?

please help!!!!!!!!How are you suppose to brush your hair in order to get waves?
Brush while wet, then crumple the hair with your hands so the wet hair looks wavy. Then, do not brush it anymore! The hair will dry in waves. You can blowdry while continually pushing the hair into waves with your hands as well.

But if your hair is naturally completely straight (like Asian hair), you can't get waves without curlers/irons/etc.How are you suppose to brush your hair in order to get waves?
You cant brush your hair to get waves. Just dampen your hair then put it in braids and once its dry take out the braids.(Its better to do it before you go to bed then you take them out when you get up) Hope I helped!
you can't brush your hair and then WALAH there is waves.. you should use a moose..

Is it crazy to brush your hair 50 times a day?

Ok, do you mean 50 brush stokes or a full brushing 50 times during the day.

One is good styling, the other is to a level of obsession or adictionIs it crazy to brush your hair 50 times a day?
if u'r a hair model no otherwise yes it's crazyIs it crazy to brush your hair 50 times a day?
No, that does not sound like a lot. Brushing is good for it and you will not lose extra hair no matter what anyone says.

And I am referring to 50 strokes, not 50 sessions. If you do 50 sessions, I would say you have OCD.
yeah. i think that is a bit much. plus you will probably cause your hair to fall out that way.
Sounds like a huge problem you might have some type of phobia or something..you might want to cut down on the brushing if you dont you will end up bald and no hair on your head girlie...chill out and relax..keep yourself occupied doing something else besides thinking about brushing your hair..
    yea
No, 51 is the threahold; you're good.
umm it could be , depends on how your hair type it.
50 is a little excessive. 10 to 15 is good if you have really long hair and you don't put it up. plus the more you brush the faster your hair will get greasy. it's like touching your hair with your hand, It gets dirty faster.
yea um cut low on the brushin
Yes. You can cause a lot of split ends from all the friction brushing your hair causes.
Do you mean 50 strokes or literally brushing your hair 50 times. 50 strokes is cool, 50 times is a waste of time
I think you need something more to do in your life than focus on your hair then.
    well yea...

    i stick to a comb

    heh heh
yes defiantly coz I'd b killing Ur hair once or twice is well enough.trust me Hun x
    a little OCD perhaps?
    no^_^
well unless u want all ur hair to fall out no but u must really be bored to brush ur hair like that many times a day just cut down sum u may have an obsestion
i wouldnt go so far to call you crazy maybe a bit obsessive (jk). over brushing your hair can cause it to break and increase the likliness of split ends. I think but im not sure that that brushing stimulates your scalp to produce more oils which can give your hair a greasy or dull appearance.
do u do this in front of a mirror? If yes ur spending too much tine on ur hair
no .....its crazy to ask if its crazy to brush your hair 50 times a day.....

Would you still Brush your hair and teeth if you were 9,000 years old?

My mommy does it for me now, why should I worry about it when 9000 years old? I'll find someone else to do it.Would you still Brush your hair and teeth if you were 9,000 years old?
Yes i would unless i didn't have teeth or hair in that time. But then again its impossible to be that age.....Would you still Brush your hair and teeth if you were 9,000 years old?
If I had any hair and teeth left, I would
lol i probably wouldn't be able to due to MAJOR arthritis
    Yes
    Of course
    yes
    cool i'm not dead???

    and

    yuh ofcourse lol

How many times do you brush your hair today.....???

Never, I hate brushing my hair. How many times do you brush your hair today.....???
5-6 brushes through it, and then tied into a ponytailHow many times do you brush your hair today.....???
    Not even once
I hate my hair. I always have a bad hair day
    im bald...
    almost 3 to 4 times
    none
I never brush or comb my hair, I wash it daily, that's it.
As many times as it takes. If you comb your hair enough, you'll get a beneficial look. I usually part my hair into two sections and comb it (if its wet) 250 times on each side, and when its dry, I BRUSH my hair 250 times on each side.
I have a crew cut so I don't have to!!
    3 times!!
Three times, it is rather frizzy today

Is it ok never to brush your hair?

i never use a brush for my hair my entire life only combs...would that have an effect on my hair?Is it ok never to brush your hair?
i actually read somewhere that using a hairbrush isnt very good for hair

it breaks it and can cause split ends

so as long as you use a comb and get rid of any knots, what you do is actually betterIs it ok never to brush your hair?
    you get dreadlockssss yeeeeeeee
Are you a guy? Is your hair short? I don't think it's a problem as long as you keep it clean.
You're still combing it, I can't imagine why it would cause any problems. :-)
    a comb is fine.
It is fine to never brush my hair. I never owned a brush for 10 years. Over brushing your hair can cause the hair to stretch and then snap off.
not brushing your're hair will create dreadlocks
It depends how long your hair is.
It's ok if u choose not 2 use a brush, I don't use a brush either, I think it breaks my hair ;-(
yea its ok.... i have shoulder lengh and i never brush my hair... i don't need to.. my hair is just healthy and straight.

I actually recently cut my hair...it use to be down to my butt and even then i never brushed... and didn't have split ends, washed it every day.... i even use a hair dryer and a hair straighter... and its never been a problem! I get alot of compliment on my hair! :)

Some ppl can get away with it.. other can't!

I will say i use good hair products to keep my hair looking healthy. :P
well, I may say that it is not okay, okay? You need it in your daily hygene and plus points to attract gals like me.
If u keep on doing so, u'll soon need to shave ur head off

Why is it, when u brush your hair, do u then flatten it with ure free hand?

Hi I dont do this, as the more you mess with your hair the more the natural oils from your hands will get onto your hair causing your hair to become greasy and lank. I just brush and leave it or add a little hairspray to the brush brush thorugh and then leave it, the hairsray will calm the frizz or I use hair serum or a glossing spray, I dont know somepeople hold and brush their hair too. Just a habbit maybe what peope get intoWhy is it, when u brush your hair, do u then flatten it with ure free hand?

  • Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?

I have heard this? but my hair brushes through a lot better when it's wet..?Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
You shouldn't brush your hair at all when it's wet. You do a ton of damage to your hair. You can run a comb through it while wet. Wait until it's at least half way dried or blow dried to use a brush. Is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
the reason your hair is easier to brush when it's wet is because hair is very weak when it's wet and pulling on it can cause it to break and that is what makes it all dull and sticky and gross.

if you must brush your hair when it's wet use a wide tooth comb. i recommend that you don't brush it at all wet or dry.

instead use a detangler, a little leave in conditioner, or silicone serum (polishing/shine serum). apply that to your hair it will help detangle it make it smooth when it's wet and dry.
Yes! Its really bad as it rips and breaks the hair. Never use a brush on wet hair! Use a wide tooth comb like this:

    http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s…
yes - your hair is at it's weakest when it's wet.

towel dry your hair a little, then run a wide - toothed comb through it. that's a lot safer :)

and it's sometimes harder to get out tugs with a comb, so try using a little detangling spray on your hair too.
i've heard it also. it does a little, but i do it also. using a comb is much better on your hair though.
    ya same here

and i heard its bad because its a lot more prone to breaking when its wet.
Yes it pulls the strands and causes breakage and split ends, you should use a wide toothed comb instead :)
Use a wide toothed comb on it when it is wet to try and prevent breakage.
I really dont see why its bad its not as if you are dyeing it or anything
i heard this but i know u can brush it but not style it to much and anyway its much better than blowdrying it
NO IT IS ACTULLAY BETTER TO BRUSH YOUR HAIR WHEN IT IS WET
Yes, you should use a comb.
yes because it harden. and is hard to comb

How many times should you brush your hair before you go to sleep?

Not too many, I only brush once. You might want to get a hair net, that keeps your hair from getting pulled while you sleep. How many times should you brush your hair before you go to sleep?
The classic answer is 100. Of course, back then, they liked oily hair, and they brushed to get dandruff out and loose hair and random junk out. They had to, because people only washed their hair once a month, or once every two weeks, or 4 times a year, or not at all (depending on where you lived, and how long ago). Like brushing a cat!

In the shampoo era, we do most of the hair tidying by washing it. So you can brush your hair exactly as much or as little as feels good to you.How many times should you brush your hair before you go to sleep?
If it is wet, Enough to get all the knots and everything out.

But you don't want to brush your hair when it is dry.

It isn't good for it. just slide your fingers through it a couple times.

And besides your going to bed not prom.
    one-hundred times
The USA average is 15 times.
Once is good enough. If you keep brushing your hair over and over again, you'll make your hair thin.
You dont need to, its going to get all messed up while you sleep anyway. Well at least thats what happens to me =)
Just real quick. If you brush your hair too much, it damages the hair.
    100 strokes, gentle, every where
just brush it enough to get all the knots out.
what's the point in doing that. Trying to look pretty for the pillows?
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT GEEEEZ YOUR A MORON!!!
just run the brush through your hair a few times get the snarls out u know!!???
Zero...are you trying to look good for the Sandman?
    None...use a comb, its healthier.
until it's soft and un tangly
    I don't..
lol i dont even comb my hair i jus jell it and walk off

Have you ever brushed your hair with a tooth brush ?

how'd that work out for ya ?Have you ever brushed your hair with a tooth brush ?
    nolol.

but i tried brushing it with a fork like Ariel from The Little Mermaid. [i watched that today]Have you ever brushed your hair with a tooth brush ?
No not my hair, but a trick I learned in cosmetology school is to put a little gel in your eyebrows and brush them back with a tooth brush. It does work.
    Never

But if there no comb or hair brush available you may use tooth brush to for combing.

Most of the people use the tooth brush to coluor their hair.

So anybody can easily colour his/her hair with tooth brush.

    Ok
well, ya know, that toothpaste really works well with your hair! and the toothbrush is better than regular hairbrushes. lol. hahahaha it's fun to have a sense of humor :]
LOL that's a hilarious quistion, but funnily enough I have, it felt weird. I often brush my eyebrows too... and my lips. Actually toothbrushes are so handy!
no... thats why its called a hairbrush
I HAVEN'T BUT MY NEPHEW DID MANY YEARS AGO WHEN HE WAS A TODDLER.. AND I MUST SAY HIS HAIR DID HAVE A NICE MINTY SMELL TO IT
Hey, I did, once when i couldnt find my hair brush. lol, it was quite good

    P
    No, it's not very effective.
no i have a hair brush
    Lol, no..
HOW DID IT WORK FOR YOU.
    Never, have you done that?
    no
    nope
    no..
ha i don't imagine that it would work too well..
What a stupid question. Now why would anyone with any brain do that?

So did it work for you? lmao!!
    haha..Not yet...I should try it out 2morrow morning...:D
no , never did..............But DID YOU EVER DID ?
NO, but i bet your stupid @ss has!

    bet you liked it too!!

    bring on the threats guy!!
No I have not but I used my cat's brush

How many times a day should you brush your hair?

Your friend has obsessive compulsive disorder. Just because she checks out her hair all day doesn't mean you have to. Trust me you don't need to be brushing your hair excessively. Does your friend do anything else like this, with make-up or anything else? Then yeah tell her she's obsessive compulsive and ask her to get help. How many times a day should you brush your hair?
Whenever you feel it needs to be. Too much brushing can damage the hair, but it does help circulate blood flow to the scalp for hair growth... So really it depends on if it really needs to be brushed. How many times a day should you brush your hair?
I think whenever you go to the washroom check to see if your hair looks meesy or bad. Brush it if it does. But maybe like at least 3 times a day. Up to you!

    :)
Twice. Once in the morning, and once in the afternoon if you happen to be near a mirror.
There is no standard to how often to brush your hair. Some people's hair gets more tangled than others throughout the day, but it sounds like your friend is doing more harm than good to her hair. She's breaking it off with all that brushing.

It's true that brushing stimulates the scalp, but she's causing breakage and split ends with all that brushing.

Tell her to get a really good brush with softer bristles and not to brush it when it's wet. As long as she doesn't have big bald patches or anything let it go. There are worse things to be addicted to I guess.
    when it getstangaly, brush it
I was taught 100 strokes a day would leave my hair healthy and shiney; I'm well over 55, and have wonderful hair!
Once. Brushing isn't good for your hair, especially when it's wet.

But of course, if you're going out: as many as necessary
I don't brush mine at all. I wash it, condition it, run my fingers through it. It falls into place, and it's happy.
    Whenever your hair looks messy.

But remember, excess brushing can lead to hair breakage %26amp; brushing stimulates the scalp, causing it to produce oil.

    I would suggest a maximum 3 times a day.
First of all, you should only brush your hair when your hair is tangled and only when it's dry. If you brush you r hair when it's wet, it could start falling off and lead to breakage. Just brush your hair 2 times a day.
    Only 3 times a day.
I brush my hair every day before work. I think that is all that is nesacary. Wait, how do you spell that word?
one must brush thrice a day.but not to overdo it.it will obviously result in hairfalling and the shine will reduce, it will become more frizzy due to the friction caused.tel ur friend not to starighten her hair frequently.it also leads to hairfall and makes the hair rough.keep telling her that her hair looks fine. if she tends to overdo it, just pull the brush off her hands, and tell her not to get obsesed with her hair.
Try using good quality shampoos with no added fragrances , brush when ever desired the hair like the attention make sure hair is dry tangle free and that hair brush is ckean, also avoid gels and moose or anything that might plug the pores on scalp.
It's not good to brush ur hair every other hour!

Brush it when its messy or tangled, when u are out at work or whatever... But when u are at home, i gues 3 times should be fine.

Why is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?

i've heard that you're not supposed to brush your hair when it's wet....but why?? If i brush my hair when it's dry it pulls so much and it rips out more hair! When i brush it when it's wet no hair falls out and it dries a lot more neatly. Why is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
Wet hair is very fragile. It may not break, but it stretches alot and makes it easier to break when it's dry. You should use a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair when it's wet. It doesn't pull on your hair like a brush does.

Normally, dry hair can be stretched one-fifth of it's length before breaking. Wet hair can stretch between 40-50% of it's length. Why is it bad to brush your hair when it's wet?
Because it is quite fragile when wet. One thing you can do is use a wide tooth comb.
maybe it turns curly idk why they never tell me tht and idont even kno who is ~THEY~ but wht i do kno is DONT SLEEP WITH UR HAIR WET! i repeat DO NOT!cuz it get hard to brush in the moring and its all curly!
do u mean brush or comb? u prob might want to use wide toothed comb when its wet so it helps w/frizzies etc.

but when it is dry tho, def don't brush it or comb it. when its dry, just spray some water into hair (don't put too much in scalp part) to make hair damp but not wet. then u can finger comb it or comb w/wide toothed hair instead of brushing which might be a little bit damaging to hair.

    good luck!
wet hair is prone to breakage when brushed wet. it is best to use a comb when it is wet, and brush when dry.
    It breaks easily
It's weaker and can break easier. Try using some leave-in conditioning spray like Infusion on wet hair to make it stronger. Use a vent brush rather than a bristle brush
it stretches and is more likely to break. use a wide toothed comb when its wet.
It breaks too easily if you brush it when its wet. I recommend you buy a wide toothed comb. I use that for my hair after showers and I hardly ever have a problem with broken hairs.

If what way does it help you if you brush your hair before Bed . ?

im just wondering, Because I never do. Besides tonight .If what way does it help you if you brush your hair before Bed . ?
it helps bring the oil from the roots down to the ends which is good for your ends. it makes it easier for you to brush it out in the morning also.If what way does it help you if you brush your hair before Bed . ?
it makes me feel better, even if it doesn't matter because my hair is short. i only touch my hair twice a day: bedtime and morning. i think a lot of people just like to go through the ritual, and others just do it cause mommy always made them and now its a habit.
Brush on top, then brush the bottom layer from the root.

    That's what I do,

It isn't knotty in the morning

%26amp; my hair is highlighted and gets tangled very easily.

    Good luck.
the more tangled it is when you go to bed, the worse the tangling in the morning after rolling around on a pillow for 8 hours. the more tangle free before you go to bed the better.
brush and braid it prevents split ends. my mom be a cosmetic for ten yrs now and ive got the longest hair in school soooo ya.
I brush it and tie it and then get less knots in ma hair the next day
    ummmmm....................that is a good one!?

  • Is it possible to brush your hair too much?

    yes.

the old 'brush 100 strokes' thing was only because they used to use lye in soap which left a film on the hair and the brushing 'scrapes' the film off. but it's not nec any more...Is it possible to brush your hair too much?
i think there is. the true reason for brushing your hair is to get the tangles out. if you keep brushing it, it can cause split ends and breakage. Is it possible to brush your hair too much?
yeah it is. brushing wayy tooo much can damage ur hair.
    it will turn greasy.
    yes
    yep

Is it bad to brush your hair wen it is wet?

well the oher day i was dryeing my hair and my m8 knocked my mum told her to come in .so i was dryeing my hair and brushing it and she said oh u shudnt brush ur hair wen its wet coz its bad for ur hair so wen i tried dryeing my hair with out brushing it it got to notty.so is she rightIs it bad to brush your hair wen it is wet?
Yep: wet hair is softer and weaker, so brushing it means that it will break more easily than dry hair. Using a comb is a better idea, especially one with wide teeth if you are prone to tangles.

If you MUST use a brush, wait until your hair is 80% dry...Is it bad to brush your hair wen it is wet?
I've heard that it's bad to brush your hair when it's wet, but honestly I don't follow that. Because my hair is so thick, I have to brush it out when it's wet or else after it's dried and I brush it, it looks like I have dreadlocks 0.o I think it's nomally easy to brush out when it's wet and it wont get as frizzy, but then again thats my opinion. Maybe try asking the stylist when you go to get you hair cut :)
When you first get out of the shower and your hair is really wet, instead of brushing it use a comb, it's better for your hair. Leave it to towel dry for a bit and start drying it, you can use a brush then :)
yes it is bad to do that because when your hair is wet it stretches and when you brush it when wet it breaks... just use a wide tooth de-tangling comb
It isn't too good for your hair because your hair is weaker when wet, and it's easier for it to break.
No its not bad but its best to use a wide tooth comb to comb your hair when it's wet.

Do you lose alot of hair when you take a shower or brush your hair ?

    Conversation:

Barber: (as he cut the hair on the back of my head) I can help you with that problem you have.

    Me: What Problem?

Barber spins me around, hands me a handheld mirror and shows me the bald spot beginning at the crown of my head and spreading outward in all directions.

Me: Oh Well, that explains where all that hair is coming from every morning.

He didn't say another word as he knew it was No Sale!

I pulled 2-3 hands full of hair from the drain at the time.

I had only Peach Fuzz by 1983, and I allowed a Female Coworker to shave off the Peach Fuzz an have carried the Dr' Phil Fringe since that time.

Oh, My hair was Super Curly.. I had the long tightly wound Ringlet Curls.
The average human being loses fifty strands of hair a day.
OOODLES and yet it's all still there....

  • How many times a day should you brush your hair?

I brush mine about 4-5 times a day. Is that good? How many times a day should you brush your hair?
Whilst 4-5 times per day for me, would be excessive, as I have next to no hair, for someone with longer hair, that may well be justified.

Finally, however many times you brush your hair, be careful, as excessive brushing may damage your hair cuticles.

A safer alternative may be to comb it with a wide toothed comb, and comb as many times as you would brush.

I hope this helped :)How many times a day should you brush your hair?
twice a day, once in the morning or mid day, whenever you need to make your hair, and before going to sleep, brushing your hair too many times a day releases the oil, which causes hair to fall. also be sure to tie your hair if its long before going to sleep, if you don't already do so, this helps to maintain your hair's shine.
You should only brush your hair when you need to. For example, if it's a windy day, have a brush or a comb handy. When you brush, start from the bottom and work your way to the top. By doing this, you want rip out all of your hair.

    Hope it helped!
4-5 times per day is too much! It can cause breakage and hair loss. Less is more when brushing and you should always be gentle. The old adage about brushing 100 strokes every night is WRONG. It is excessive and unnecessary. Keeping your hair neat and tidy is one thing, but over-brushing only leads to problems.
Brush your hair as often as needed. If you don't need it brushed then don't brush it, but if it's tangled then go for it. If your hair is greasy or oily try not to brush it too much. The brush will attract the oily cells and spread them around your hair.
well it depends on ur hair. if u don't need it, why bother. but if it gets really naughty and unappealing then yeah, u ttlly shud. 4 me, it depends on the day. if its a lazy, stay at home, im not seeing anyone day then sumtimes not at all. if its a regular day, usually like 3-4 times.
That isn't really good. Over brushing breaks it. Only brush it when it is absolutely necessary, and don't do something stupid like stroke through it 100 times.
Brushing your hair too much can seriously damage it. I know that sounds silly but it can cause split ends. Unless it's necessary then at least use something that will detangle your hair and apply conditioner regularly at night.
it depends on your hair. I only brush mine about twice a day..

    plz answer mine:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
    Hm. I brush mine more.

I guess I just want to look good.

But if that works for you, by all means, that's completely healthy. Keep it up.
um...brush it if it's tangly...brushing it only keeps it organized, not make it stronger or anything. I go days without brushing my hair and it is really healthy.
    I brush mine about once.

I really should be brushing it more hahah.

But I'd say what your doing is already good for your hair so thats fab.
Well I brush mine about 2-5 times a day but there is really no limit brush ur hair as many times as u want.
No. Around 4,333,967,417,098 times a day, and then it will fall out faster!
lol nice question. do it as many times needed
Yeah. There's really no limit on how often.
    at least twice.

    100 strokes each.
What? Maybe you should spend some time on the rest of yourself. No one cares about your hair...

Is is bad to brush your hair when it is wet?

supposedly because all the oils need time to settle inIs is bad to brush your hair when it is wet?
I let mine dry a little bit then comb it with a wide tooth comb so there are less breakagesIs is bad to brush your hair when it is wet?
Yes you want to PREVENT breakage and if your brushing your hair when its wet it will break try using wide toothed comes.
I've always been told crappy brushes pull your hair out but when your hair is wet you shouldn't use any kind of brush. Instead you are supposed to use a wide-toothed comb or pick or something like that. I just use my fingers and it works great.
yes, it'll break your hair. use a wide toothed comb
    no.

because when your hair dry it get noddy.

try brushing it with a comb first and then a brush cuhs i know you don`t want hair loss rightt?;.
YES ESPICALLY WHEN U GOT GEL IN IT IT PULLS OUT YOURE HIR. NOW IF ITS A LIL DAMP DEN DATS OK BUT NEVER DO IT WHEN IT S WET K
no it isnt bad just use a brush with wide opening or teeth or a wide toothed comb would be best so u dont pull alot of hair out
Brushing your hair when it is wet, especially if it is tangled at all, can cause breakage. The best thing to do is take a comb and comb through it in sections gently. If you must brush it, make sure all the knots are out first
it is if you use a brush.it is best to use a comb.and work your way up from the tips to the roots.that way you dont end up with that huge tangle at the bottom that is impossible to get out.
no,for me its the opposite though. my hair gets FRIZZY if i brush it when its dry!
unfortutaly yes, so let it eirther dry naturaly or blow dry it, then brush

Since your not suppose to brush your hair after you take off your durag, when are you?

Before you put it on. The doorag is to hold your hair in place and help it to wave by allowing the heat and perspiration to enhance your wave pattern.

Is it bad to brush your hair after you take a shower?

I always brush my hair *right before* I take a bath/shower, then I don't need to brush it that much. After I get out of the tub, I wait until my hair is damp (I always air dry; it's easier and better for the hair) and brush it then.

Brushing your hair while it is still very wet can not only cause split end, but it is also easier for the hairs to be pulled out during brushing.

If for some reason you must brush your hair directly after washing in, ie in a hurry, then use a wide-toothed come and be very careful. And remember, flip your hair over and brush it from the bottom up too, no matter when you're brushing. There's more knots underneath there than you think. Is it bad to brush your hair after you take a shower?
well, it's bad for your hair because it can cause split ends, but it's not bad for you lol, not like your going to die!

it would be alot better to brush your hair BEFORE a shower, so it wont be as knotty when you get out.

if it still is a tiny bit knotty, it would be wise to use a wide-tooth comb.Is it bad to brush your hair after you take a shower?
No, but tearing through it is. Make sure you use a leave in conditioner or serum for extra slip, start at the bottom and comb or brush gently.
no it is fine to brush your hair aftery a shower make sure the bruse is clean of any hair because if there is old dirty hair on the brush you are making you hair dirty
no of course not u dont want i t to dry then get nappy but if u didnt was h it then u might get dirty on your back al little but no u can always put a towel on the back of your neck then brushit
yeah, brushing you're hair while its wet can cause slip ends

using a comb would be the best way to go

    it helps a lot =)
No, it doesn't mattter. But cleaning your brushes evry month helps
Use a wide tooth comb. Brushing your hair while it's wet will damage it.
it's better to use a wide tooth comb.

Is it bad to brush your hair backwards?

My hair come down to my shoulders and i usually brush it back (as if I where to put it in a ponytail) which I thought was good sense it's sorta the opposite direction hair grows....but I recently heard to not brush your hair backwards because I guess it's bad?Is it bad to brush your hair backwards?
Brushing your hair backwards is fine i think... its a way of training your hair. I find that most people look good when they brush there hair to the side but not too flat.Is it bad to brush your hair backwards?
im not sure im getting it?

    wouldnt that be teasing it?

maybe not as long as its brushed who cares =D
LOL THAT DIFFERENT.. I DONT BRUSH MY HAIR.. WWELL ONCE IN A BLUE
    What? I don't follow.

But, anyway as long as you brush your hair it really doesn't matter which way.

Sometimes I flip my hair down and brush that way to get all the knots out.
Well, brushing your hair backwards never hurt mine. And it's how hairdressers find your natural part, so I don't suppose it's bad for you...

  • How Do You Back Brush Your Hair?

once you straighten it, spray it with a little hairspray and take a 2 inch or so section and just comb it towards your head. How Do You Back Brush Your Hair?
Take a comb (a teaser comb works best for this)

Grab a section of layers from your hair and hold it up.

Take the comb, and starting from the tip of your hair, brush it (back brush it haha)

Keep repeating this until it sticks straight up by itself, without you holding it.

    Hairspray the section.

Lightly brush it down so it doesnt look like you have horns haha.

Do this to the rest of your hair.

You know how when you brush your hair?and sum if it comes out in the brush?

First of all I have thick, fine, curly hair.....What am I doing wrong if I am losing more hair than usual even though I trim it once a month, I keep it conditioned and soft, I dont heat style it at all anymore...just keep it natural. Is there anything else that can help it?You know how when you brush your hair?and sum if it comes out in the brush?
It is normal to lose hair when you brush it. The more hair you have, the more you will lose. Don't stress! Stress makes your hair fall out. LOL

I use Garnier Fructic shampoo and conditioner for long and strong hair. I felt like it strengthened the roots a little so less fell out. You can get it at a grocery store. You know how when you brush your hair?and sum if it comes out in the brush?
well i have natural curly hair and i do the same steps like u.1 # rule is never brush curly hair!!only when ur about to go into the shower cause it takes all of the build up away.and use a wide tooth come instead,

both my parents are hair stylists,my dad also a hair doctor(not bragging) always tell me because i always freak out when the big blogs of my hair come out that it's natural because that is dead hair that is coming out sooo don't be dumb like me and that also might be a sign that you need to trim your ends because even more might come out
Usually when that happens it is caused by stress, pregnancy which causes stress and theres a certain length your hair is thats the way it is. When it gets to that length you'll loose some hair when u brush it and in the shower
Hair continually replaces it self . Unless you are sick or have had problems with hair loss before it is nothing to worry about. You might not want to brush your curly hair as it tangles in the bristles and can break there by looking like more hair loss.
First of all teh average person is suppose to shed at least 150 strands of hair a day, rather it is in a brush or comb..... But you need to start a process, adn keep it going meaning you need to shampoo it and conditioner it. use products that says mositurizing shampoo, and moisturizing conditioner.. Be VERY careful of teh color and chemicals if any on your hair. I fyou have color, then you have to make sure you use the appriate shamppo/conditioner so that it won't damage and cause a lot of breakage, also it helps to teh color form fading fast...
we lose about 100 hairs a day. more in the winter months.
Well, in summer hair gets regenerated, well not just hair, skin cells as well... Don't worry about it; it's very normal... But you could also be anemic, ask yourself, do you have black circles under eyes, being paler than normal, and feeling tired...
    get tangle free conditioner
alot of the time alot of hair comes out cuse it was a tangle u like ripped out of ur hair so get like tangle free conditioner or spray to help wit the tangles and its normal to loose hair the more of it u have the more thats gonna come out
If your hair is longer, you may lose more of it when you brush it than shorter hair. It's nothing to worry about, unless it's coming out in chunks.
whoa that happens to me too my hair is incredibly thick and really long and i haven't trimmed it in a month i have been taking the same precautions as you but my hair keeps falling out also!!
Use a wide-tooth comb first to get out the larger tangles, then use your brush. And don't just drag the brush through your hair; use smaller strokes, especially when trying to get a snarl out.
Just like animals people can lose hair if they are not eating healthy. If you have an unhealthy diet it can cause hair loss. Eat healthier and it will help!
my hair always comes out when i brush it, i always have to clean my brush out, cause it gets soooo full of hair!!! and i have striaght long thin hair
You could be anemic or just not getting the right vitamins. A lot of my hair fell out when i was anemic.
    That's only normal.

Is it rude to brush your hair during class?

i do it a lot but then i felt self conciousIs it rude to brush your hair during class?
Yes, it is, and yes you should feel self conscious about it. When you're in class, you should give the instructor and your fellow classmates the respect of focusing on the class. If you need to take a swallow from your drink or leave to use the restroom, then you do so as quietly and unobtrusively as possible, so as to not distract your instructor and classmates. You should also have your cellphone on silent or preferrably... off. Also, no texting during class... that's rude, too. It distracts you and others around you.

Why was your hair not brushed before class? This isn't even a ';normal'; rude thing that people do during class. There are many others that I didn't even mention, but brushing your hair didn't exactly make my list... kind of like flossing your teeth doesn't make that list, either. Is it rude to brush your hair during class?
Yes. It's rude to brush or comb your hair in public. Combing or brushing the hair should be done in the restroom, at home or in the car, if necessary.
No its not. But if u feel self concious then just do it in the bathroom instead
    no, its not rude
I do it once in a while...because I can't pay attention when I feel REALLY horrible about my hair, but I try to do it when no one's looking since it would seem like I care SO much about how I look and it's kind of rude. Once, a boy said to me ';Your hairs fine......(thinking, ';why are you combing your hair in class?!?)'; and I felt so stupid.
well kind of if its distracting but it shouldn't really isn't all that bad
Yes. Grooming yourself should be done on your own time, not on your teacher's.
yes becuase it says that your not paying attention!

    -Jessica
Its not too rude, but it may come off wrong to others...not only your teacher but your classmates too.they might judge you differently than before. also, make sure you're listening. theres not need to be self concious!!!!! good luck, God bless :) %26lt;3
To the teacher or professor it is basically saying ';I don't care. I'm not listening. I have better things to do.'; I think it is better to brush your hair in the bathroom or when class is over. Good luck!
i do it all the time, so i say no

just make sure your not doing while the teacher is talking, do it when they are passing out papers or they give you free time
Not really. I mean if your in the middle of taking notes or something and you randomly break out a brush the teacher might get a little mad. Use a little teeny tiny dab of hand lotion (takes away frizz and fly aways) and runb it in your hands and smooth it onto your hair. Works everytime. When the teacher is swithing topics and it takes like a minute for the class to get settled break out your brush. You'll be a happy camper lol. Sorry this is soooooo long, i just had to explain my theroy hahaha.
yeh it is quite rude. and dirty! the hairs get everywhere and people will think your vein rather than self concious

What does it mean to 'brush your hair from the ends'?

I read a small article that said not to brush from top to bottom, but from the ends, but does that actually mean brushing from the bottom of your hair? ...because I don't see that working very well. What does it mean to 'brush your hair from the ends'?
Start from then bottom of your hair %26amp; work your way up. Don't literally brush bottom to top though like in one movement. Start at the bottom %26amp; work in smaller downward brush strokes to get out any tangles there %26amp; keep going until you've reached the top.

%26lt;3What does it mean to 'brush your hair from the ends'?
Yes it does mean to start from the bottom, especially if you have long hair that is tangled. By starting at the bottom it prevents you from damaging your hair when you start from the top and just rip all the tangles out on the way to the ends of your hair.

A good technique is; if you have longer hair, gather some up like you were going to put it into a ponytail and hold the ends in the palm of your hand and brush from the bottom and work your way up.

    Hope this is helpful!! =]
Ha, at first I was confused, but now I understand the question. What it means, is: it's more damaging to take your brush from the top of your tangled hair and pull all the way down to the ends. Instead. You should start brushing the lower ends of your hair (from top to bottom) but in smaller motions. The idea is to get your tangles out with the least amount of damage. So, if you started from your scalp, you'd probably just work more tangles into your hair. But if you slowly get the lower tangles out and work your way up till you can easily brush all the way down, it's healthier. Please let me know if you understand. It's really hard to explain.
it's work for the people who have curly hair or hard and dry hair or coloring hair i will tell u why

because it's hard to brush if u brush it from the top to the bottom it will cut the hair and the brush will be stuck at the middle of the hair .

but when u start from the bottom and then u brush it from the top it will be brushed smoothly
Starting from the ends, and working your way up to the root. It hurts less, and makes it easier to get tangles out..When you go from roots to ends, It hurts alot more, and your basically ripping the tangles out.
staret combing from the bottom then work your way up top that way it wont break ur hair or tangle it

Certain brushes shouldn't be used when brushing wavy hair because they create friz. There are specially designed brushes, however, that make sure that doesn't happen. just ask your local hairdresser and they'll point you in the right direction.

I think as long as you don't use a bristle brush you'll be ok. If you use a vent brush it will be fine, it's not different to a wide toothed comb.Is it ok to brush your hair when its wet?
No, a brush stretches the hair and causes it to break. Use a wide toothed comb.
It's terrible to brush your hair when it's wet. When your hair is wet it's vulnerable to breakage and snaps easily and using a brush only pulls it out. Using a very wide toothed comb is the best way to comb wet hair and start combing from the ends and work your way up to your scalp, DON'T comb from your scalp down 2 the ends when your hair is wet because it also pulls your hair out and breaks it off. Working your way up from the ends removes all the tangles with the least amount of stress to your hair. If you can, just towel dry and wait until it's completely dry to comb it is ulitmately the healthiest for your hair as even with a comb there will occasionally be some breakage to strands that are already damaged and weakened.
wet hair can easily break. use of a comb is best.
    Causes split ends fo show
you're not supposed to. hir is 33% more sensite when wet which means your hair falls out easier. try combing it instead.
No - you should always use a wide tooth comb, also called a shampoo comb or a tint comb, when your hair is wet. Wet hair can stretch from 50 to 70 percent (for real - i was surprised when i learned this as well) when it is wet and can easily break
brushing while wet only breaks it. this is when the hair is weak.
if u must use a wide tooth comb or a brush thst has bristles that are seperated.....
    Definitly No...Blow Dry first sweetheart...then you can brush away dont forget the ';Detangler!';
Not really, because it is weaker and more prone to breakage when wet. The more it breaks, the more flyaways you have.
Nope it breaks the hair. Use a comb
Use a wide-toothed comb, less breakage.
VERY GOOD QUESTION. Fortunately for me, I have a mom that is a cosmetologist and who used to work at a salon. She told me early on that it is terrible to brush your hair when it is wet. It leads to split ends and soooo much breakage.

You need a wide toothed plastic comb. Also, start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up. It will be a lot less painful that way! Don't forget to use conditioner and then you won't have so many painful snarles! =)
It's better if you use a comb.

I do it before I style my hair so I can get the tangles out of it.
you shouldnt really, the brush breaks the hair. i have curly hair and never brush it unless i am straightening it. then i wait until my hair is damp. but if you must, try buying a leave in conditioner, i use the j %26amp; j no more tears for kids. it smells awesome
    Ya! I do it all the time! It is a lot easier to brush when wet rather than when dry! And my hair is beautiful! Everyone is always like '; How did you get your hair sooo smooth?';
    yes
No, bad for the hair, a wide tooth comb is best
Yes. It's also okay to brush your hair when it is dry. Also, when it gets all mussed up. Generally, though ... it's okay to brush your hair.
yes its ok and i think in makes hair less messy
No I would use a comb. When you do comb it well it is wet start from the bottom to the top because then you won't pull a lot of your hair out.
U should really comb it when it's wet.
For me its ok to brush ur hair when its wet its easier to get those tangled knots out of ur hair
    Duh!!!! Why wouldn't it??????????????
you should use a comb a brush can cause your hair to break
it will break ur hair. u should use a comb!!
no it isnt good to brush ur hair while its wet. you need to comb it and dont use just any comb use a wide tooth comb and a spritz of detangler..
dont use a brush. use a comb 2 get rid the tangles
No. You can damage it when its wet. If you need to, use a wide tooth comb and brush from the bottom up.
brushing your hair when it's wet can really damage your hair. try using a wide tooth comb while drying.

Do you brush your hair before you start to scrunch it?

no, my hair is naturally straight so if i brushed it than scrunching it would not work.

i just get out of the shower, put my hair in a towel for a while then when its still damp use a curl gel and scrunch.Do you brush your hair before you start to scrunch it?

When you brush your hair with your hand pretty hard, do flakes come out of your head?

My mom doesn't see dandruff in my head

but when i brush my head with my hand flakes come out and hit my table

    is this normal or no

it has been happening for about four years

i have also been getting premature gray hairs

are the flakes the reason i am getting gray hair

    what is wrong with me?

HELP!!!!!When you brush your hair with your hand pretty hard, do flakes come out of your head?
    Nothing is wrong with you!!

Dandruff is simply a scary word for dry dead skin on your head. It's been given such a bad name but it's not a problem. If you brush your hair hard, of course some skin will flake off. I have never had a problem with dandruff and yet if I ever scratch my head I will see flakes.

You aslo mentioned getting a few premature gray hairs, trust me, the two are completely unrelated! If the occassional flakes bother you, switch to a moisturizing shampoo, Pantene makes one if you are hesitant of going to something as conspicuous as Head and Shoulders.

    ';First you should know that a person's entire body surface continuously sheds dead skin cells. The skin itself sheds every twenty-four days. Dandruff is the result of the normal growing process of the skin cells of the scalp. Shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp at an excessive rate, is the result of the normal growing process of the skin cells of the scalp. ';

About the graying hair...here's an article from www.webmd.com that may be of interest to you.

    ';The ABCs of Premature Graying

Experts explain why some of us are destined to sport the 'distinguished' look at an early age. By Star Lawrence

WebMD Feature Reviewed By Louise Chang, MD

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks sports a gray thatch and he's only 29. CNN's Anderson Cooper says he started to see salt mixed in with the pepper at age 20. Phil Donohue has used his striking white hair for decades to create an aura of eminence.

But take notice -- these are all men. Women, with the possible exception of household hinter Heloise and her long white mane, usually don't flaunt the early gray look.

Why do some people go gray early? And does it have any health implications?

    How Hair Works

Hair grows in stages, with a certain percentage of hair either growing or resting at any one time. The hair follicles -- the little bags under the skin where hair is formed out of skin -- also contain pigment called melanin.

When the body stops producing pigments, the hair becomes colorless, turning white. Mixed with darker hair, this produces a look most commonly associated with ';gray.'; An actual gray hair may be a result of pigment dilution.

    Why Start This Early?

    ';Premature graying is genetically determined for the most part,'; David Bank, MD, tells WebMD. Bank is director of the Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic, and Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, N.Y. ';Graying is natural. We all do it eventually.';

    When more than half the hair is white by age 40, though, this is considered ';premature.';

Bank also points out that head hair grows more actively than body hair. So the head can go gray while other hairy parts remain your normal color. Correction: Your former color.

Basically, Bank says, if you look around your family and see a lot of gray, you may be headed in that direction.

    What About Turning White Overnight?

A good scare, legend has it, can turn hair white overnight. Martyr Thomas More and the notorious Marie Antoinette supposedly went ';white'; the night before their executions.

What about Cooper? His new book, just out, titled A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival, recounts many harrowing adventures. Could his exploits have turned him white?

Of course, existing hair cannot ';turn'; any color because the part above the skin is already whatever color it is. One explanation for this ';white overnight phenomenon,'; is that the dark hairs suddenly fall victim to an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata, which can cause dark hairs to fall out overnight -- leaving the white ones.

    Bank adds that the dark hair can fall out in quite large quantities in a short period of time and you might not notice. ';I know that sounds weird,'; he says, ';but some goes down the drain. You may not notice.';

He also points out that going gray does not mean that your body's agingaging process has sped up. You aren't suddenly going to lose function in other areas.

    Links to Other Health Conditions

Premature graying has been associated with certain medical conditions such as thyroid disorders, vitiligovitiligo, vitamin B12 deficiency, and anemiaanemia. Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition in which the cells that make pigment (melanocytes) are destroyed, resulting in patches of hair and skin that become white.

There may also be a link with decreased bone mineral density in postmenopausal women, which is a risk factor for osteoporosisosteoporosis. In a study of 293 healthy postmenopausal women, those who had experienced premature graying of a majority of their hair by age 40 had decreased bone densitybone density throughout their bones compared with comparable women who did not have premature graying.

But more recent research published in Osteoporosis International showed the opposite -- that going prematurely gray is not necessarily an indicator of osteoporosis.

    Can Anything Be Done?

    With so many new lasers and dermatological treatments coming out these days, is there any way to stop or even reverse premature graying? Quartz Light rays have been mentioned, but Bank scoffs: ';Yes, there have been attempts to stimulate color production. If this worked, though, don't you think people would come flocking?';

Basically, people who stop plucking have no choice but the dye bottle -- or the bold grab for ';distinguished'; that Anderson Cooper, Phil Donohue, and Bill Clinton have championed.

Women usually reach for the dye bottle, not wanting to be ';dated'; by a bossy society that disdains agingaging. If men take this route, they would do well to try a semipermanent dye at first. Make it one shade light than your natural color. If it is too light it won't color.

Cooper also recommends keeping gray hair short and trim. If you grow it long, he has written, you look like a roadie for Peter, Paul, and Mary.

    If you do decide to wear your gray with pride, you have the Bible on your side. ';Gray hair is a crown of glory,'; one proverb states. ';It is gained in a righteous life.';

    Of course, people lived to about 35 then and didn't have as long to gaze upon their ';glorious crown'; of prematurely gray hair.';

Published May 30, 2006.When you brush your hair with your hand pretty hard, do flakes come out of your head?
That happens to me to, or when i like run my hands through my hair but it only happens when my hairs really dry and yuck, (but having dry hair is a side effect from my current medication) so i put some smoothing serum in my hair
why not try a anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner and see if that works
oh you are normal and no gray hair has nothing to do with flakes. try some selsen and blue and don't over wash your hair nothing you can do about the gray except dye it. your normal. I have been gray since 19 just a few.
they probably arent related but if you are really nervous about it go see a doctor because it has been happening for so long

a lot of people have dandruff but to have it to your extent is kinda extreme
i think the flakes are from your styling products.. i don't know about the grays though
If you really think your problem is dandruff or dry scalp, I'd recommend trying a Tea Tree Shampoo/Conditioner from Paul Mitchell and seeing if that helps. The Tea Tree oils are from the Mellaluca plant and REALLY good from your scalp...

BUT, more than likely the problems your are having is from styling product buildup. Try using a leave in conditioner and a spray gel instead of either a heavy gel or hairspray. You want something that comes in a pump and NOT an aerosol.
It may be genetics, albeit I have the same thing too sometimes. It's also the dryness in the air, or it could be the shampoo you're using.

Try Pert or something. Good luck.
try head and shoulders. you could just have a really dry scalp. my thing is that their is two types of dandruff. gross dandruff because people don't take showers and dry dandruff which is basically a dry scalp in need of a little bit of moisture. is your hair really dry or does it get greasy really quickly? it all depends.
no idea. i konw it might be in your genetics, but i have flakes from dandruff (ugh...)
if flakes come out of your hair it means you have lice....................................鈥?is you do next time don't ask a dumb question

  • Is it bad to brush your hair while it's wet?

because i always brush it when i get out of the shower while it's still wet. i heard that this is bad for your hair. is it?? why, what do most people do, dry their hair while there's still tangles in it?? ewe!!!!Is it bad to brush your hair while it's wet?
No, thats a lie. It doesn't do anything bad to brush your hair while its wet. It's so much easier and it actually might be better to brush your hair before you get in the shower then you have less tangles after you shower! Thats what I do.Is it bad to brush your hair while it's wet?
When your hair is wet, it is more stretchy and vulnerable to being broken. The best thing to do is to use a wide-toothed comb to get the tangles out, and then wait until it's dry to brush it.
Yea it's bad for your hair. When your hair is wet it's weaker and brushing will break more hair off. Comb gently to remove knots. If you get a lot of knots try a de-tangler after washing. It really helps!
well, I don't think it's bad, i do it, cuz if i dont then my hair gets tangly.

I NEED UR OPINION *ANSWER MINE?*

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Yes...It can stretch and break off...You can comb it, It's alot less harsh.
yes.. it is bad, how about putting your in a ponytail, or braids, no tangles and no mess!!!
Dont brush it, you should comb it softly. your hair is very brittle when its wet and you dont want to damage it!
I hope not cuz I do...why wait for it to dry then you end up pulling ur hair out cuz of the tangles...lol

When you brush your hair how many hairs come out?

can you look at your hairbrush and tell me if any of your hairs have about 3 mm of yellowish white coating on the end of them. some of mine just have a white tip and some have this coating . i am wondering if this is normal. thanksWhen you brush your hair how many hairs come out?
Are you talking about the root? Usually about 5% of the hairs that come off of your head in a day will have the root attached. It's completely normal, and has to do with the life line of the root. When you brush your hair how many hairs come out?
Maybe your hair is coming out from the root...

Mine just come out when i comb it in the shower.

But is a lot.. i read is normal to lose about 100 hair in a day, but i think is too much, no?

Well.. if you are feeling you have less hair then before, go to the clinic and ask the doctor if this is normal! It could be stress, hot water, many things, but only doctor can determine what it is!

    Good Luck! :)
studies have shown that the avg. women looses to 100 - 200 hars a day... :)

the white coating is niothing other than the roots of ur hair .. if u r to pull one out ull se just the same thing [ but make sure to pull it from the bottom ]
That is the follicle on the end, which is normal, although more noticeable when your hair is pulled out (brush gently!). I think that could be the difference between your hair samples.
Somethings up. If it were me, I woul take my hairbrush into a salon and ask whats up and what to do. They'll be happy to help you out.
thats not normal but i wouldnt worry about it. i once knew a guy who couldnt brush his hair without his scalp bleeding. last i checked he was still alive. that was 35 years ago, but regardless.
like the blood cells the hair roots also die and new hairs replace them .

if u have too much hair loss use oils to reduce hairfall.
Don't worry girl, thats perfectly normal. The lighter sections are what was under the skin on your head.
It is probably from the oils in your hair. Perhaps you should wash your hair more frequently?
ummmm noo mine does not that..soryy but that is disgusting...go look att a doctor or sumdingg
i think your skalp might be elergict to your hair prodect
    a whole lot.
We all lose 100 strands of hair each day. It is natural.
lol on average i lose just 1 to 3 a day and yea im still not bald
you are losing your hair maybe dandruff problem
ewwww you need to go to a pro. hair dresser
lol why would u waste your points asking this ??
    ew no

    Oh,boy....

Is it healthy to brush your hair?

i'm a male with shorter hair (that's getting longer). I usually brush it to get the loose hairs out and was wondering if it's healthy for my hair. Thanks. Is it healthy to brush your hair?
    Of course it's healthy!!!!

Everybody should be brushing their hair...not unless it's too short to brush though.

:) xoIs it healthy to brush your hair?
of course! if you have curly hair, however, only brush your hair in the shower.

To prevent split ends when brushing, brush the ends of your hairs and work your way up, instead of ripping through knots from the scalp.

Also, to give straight hair more body, brush to the back of your head instead of straight down
its healthy xD brush ur hair offen might get less gray in ur hair and it also make it healthy :]
Yeah... When it's really short it doesn't matter as much though.
i rather brush my hair than comb it i love brushing my hair even when i get it cut

How many times do you brush your hair in a day?

i only brush my hair when its wet cuz if i do when it is dry it will poof out then i will get an afro...

uh... i dont count how many times...sorry to dissapoint! How many times do you brush your hair in a day?
it depends, if your having a really bad hair day, once, because you should just put it up, ha... now, if its just normal , i brush my hair almost every time i go in the bathroom which sounds really weird, but it keeps my hair super nice and soft and straight, and it really matters what kind of shampoo or conditioner your using, i HAVE to use both, because if i don't use the conditioner, i have to brush my hair forever, hope this helps:]How many times do you brush your hair in a day?
I would say about 8 because my hair is really thick and i want to keep it smooth and happy; any who im a girly girl but i have a tomboyish side to me;; so thats why i brush my hair that many times a day and i am very active and outside so my hair gets all knotted;;; dirt biking, volleyball, cheerleading, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, four wheeling;;; it all gets my hair like that
it depends on how long ur hair is. i brush my hair 3 times a day. longer if it is short short brush it when u wake up and when u go to bed. You should always brush ur hair when u wake up and when u go to sleep. If it is at your shoulders brush ur hair when u get home from work, school, sports etc and all of the above too. If ur hair is longer than that use conditioner, brush ur hair when ur done washing ur hair [in the shower] and do all of the above
i don't. I have curly hair but i was told in the shower i am supposed to use a wide toothed comb in the shower when there is conditioner in it. But my friend has straight/wavy hair, once a day is good, so it's not messy in the morning sometimes before she goes to bed so it's not too tangled in the morning.
about three times. i brush it when i wake up, before i get out of the car to go to school and when I go to bed. (and if you have a date, do it before then)
Once if I have to leave the house. If not, ZERO :( which is bad. I heard it's good to brush your hair a few times a day.

:-] I should go brush it now. Thanks for reminding.
It all depends on how I wear my hair that day, the weather, and where I am going.

I would say I brush my hair minimum of 2 times a day. Usually maximum of maybe 4.
it depends on u how many times u brush ur hair for example me i brush my like a hundred times a day cus its really long and most of the time its out =]
when I get up, if it gets tangled during the day, while in the shower, and out of the shower, and before I get in bed
I brush it like...a lot. Maybe six times a day.

BUT that is if it's down, if it is up then i don't even brush it once. x=

    before bed.
    1.) When I wake up

    2.) After washing my hair

Depends. Sometimes when I want to fix my hair or braid it or something, then I brush it more times to it's untangled.
Once. Ill get my fingers and try to keep it a certain way in the mirror, but i dont constantly comb it.
My hair is about 90cm long! So I brush each side 100 times. And I do this about 2 times a day, whenever I'm bored.

    BridgitteXOX
the better question would be: who counts how many times you brush your hair in a day? lol...

but i just brush before i go to bed and when i wake up.
never. I am bald. though I do run my fingers through the stubs a few times a day...usually a stress reducer.
I haven't brushed my hair in nine years except with my fingers in the shower and I know my hair is better then yours an I'm a guy
My hair is SUPER tangly! So I probably brush it 5 times a day if I'm wearing it down so it doesn't bunch and look like a rat's nest.
    in the moring

after first period at school( i have gym first)

when i get home from school

and before i go to bed

i just dont like when my hair is knotted!!
About once every 2 days, actually. Unless I'm doing something to get it snarly?
none. im serious. my hair wakes up without having to poof out. It's naturally straight.
I don't really brush my hair unless I'm really bored, trying out a new hairstyle, or at my friend's house. :)
if my hair looks frizzy or has knots, i brush it, so that means i brush alot during the day. more then 5 times.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... ONCE! on school days only. so holidays, very rarely. Only at parties in holidays.
I brush my hair before taking a shower and after I blow dry my hair. That's it.
i dont brush my hair unless it's very tangled.

brushing only causes breakage to your hair.
Well I brush it once it the shower and then once when I get out.

bristles on brush are so close together they can't go thru the tangle (will rip the hair causing split ends and damage).

comb wet hair from ends to roots. tangles are easier to get out this way. if you start at the root then the tangle gets bigger and bigger. if you start on the ends then each tangle can be broken down into smaller and smaller tangles, easier to get out.

did this answer the question or did i not answer the question you asked? i can go into more detail if need be, but i thought this would do.Is it advisable to comb/brush your hair when wet and why?
yeah use the wide tooth comb, never a brush, especially when wet cause it causes lots of breakage. my hairdresser told me. i used to do it all the time, but now i hardly ever even ';brush'; my hair cause i straighten it with an iron or wear it curly
Hair is at its most vulnerable when wet, so go easy on it. Don't forget to condition, and don't tug on it. Finger-comb it if it's short, or use a wide-toothed comb if it's long. Keep brushes for dry hair.
it is advisable not to comb your hair when its wet cos your hair is the most fragile when wet. if you have to, use those wide toothed combs with round tips so that you dont hurt your scalp. those round tips can help me massage your scalp. but i'd advise you not to comb it when its wet :)
use a wide tooth comb when hair is wet

brushes will break the hair strand
dont use a brush because it will cause your hair to break. thats why its best to use a comb
Depending on the length of your hair. Combing or brushing when helps to reduce tangels,
buy a detangle spray and then you can brush away

Is it unhealthy to brush your hair a lot?

actually, brushing your hair stimulates the folicals, making it grow faster, but if you have kinda thin hair, it makes it greasy. ( my mom is a hairdresser) I love to brush my hair, but it is thin, so i do it at night to get my folicals all warmed up to make my hair grow! Adn then wash it in the a.m cuz it gets pretty greasy because it is so thin....hope this helps! Is it unhealthy to brush your hair a lot?
    helloo

brushing your hair isnt bad, only when you brush it when your hair is wet because a lot of breakage occurs.. brushing your hair increases circulation to the scalp but therefore increasing growth rate :)

Is it unhealthy to brush your hair a lot?
somewhat unhealthy, but as long as your not shedding a lot of hair, u should b fine. just never brush when wet, that is unhealthy and can cause breakage
its not unhealthy but too much can cause hair to break and get more greasy quickly.
    nope its healthy
    i would think so

Is it bad or damaging to brush your hair too much?

I think it's fine! Every morning I wash my hair, blow dry it, brush it a lot, then straighten it, then occasionally tease it. My hair is still beautiful. So if you simply brush it nothing bad will happen. What are you going to do instead of brushing it? I don't think you should worry. :)Is it bad or damaging to brush your hair too much?
    No..

depends on how you brush ur hair. But indeed, brushing ur hair as many times as possible will improve your scalp circulate. But it all depends on how u brush ur hait, just genteelly brushing will be good!Is it bad or damaging to brush your hair too much?
yes, its damaging, not as much as blow drying, straightening, or dying it though

  • How do you brush your hair from bottom to top?

i heard that if u brush ur hair from top to bottom ur roots get pulled out. so now u hav to brush ur hair from bottom to top. how do u do that???How do you brush your hair from bottom to top?
You still brush down, lol. Start two inches from the tip and brush down, then brush down from two inches higher, then two inches higher etc. until you have brushed all your hair. It's a lot less painful. How do you brush your hair from bottom to top?
You don't necessarily do bottom to top.

You put your brush at about 1/4 of ur hair on the bottom and brush it down.

Then put ur brush up again and brush at 2/4 of ur hair.

    etc..

I cant really explain it well.. but you just dont litterally go bottom to top.

Is it true that the more you brush your hair, the faster it grows?

is it true that the more you brush your hair, the faster it grows?

what can i do to make my hair grow really fast?Is it true that the more you brush your hair, the faster it grows?
try hair oil; it really works! put it on at nite before bed and wake up and shampoo it off. usually coconut hair oil works the best but try others to suit ur hairIs it true that the more you brush your hair, the faster it grows?
Actually a brush will cause 23% more damage to your hair,a wide toothed comb is better for it,eat healthy, drink a ton of water and go out and buy some Biotin vitamins, this helps with the hair. Some people claim that using Mane and Tail shampoo on their hair helps also, you can find this at Walmart.Tomb Raider.
Well, I does increases the quickness it grows, but sadly it also break your hair... :(

ANyways if you are looking to grow your hair faster safely, massage your scalp in the shower for 5 minutes a couple times a day :) Good Luck :)
Not brushing your hair but messaging your scalp when you brush your hair.

I doubt it but just try messaging your scalp with a brush or your hands because if you do, you are benefiting the blood flow which is good for your body anyway
yes sometime you brush but don't too hard it get off good luck
    no .... nothing.
    no.

    use mane n' tail shampoo.

Is it ok to brush your hair when it's soaking wet?

Like say if i'm taking a shower, and I brush my hair while my hair is soaking wet, is that good or is that bad? If it's bad, why?Is it ok to brush your hair when it's soaking wet?
    BAD, VERY BAD!

When your hair is wet, it's more prone to breaking. It'll tear easier -- bad! You could seriously damage it by brushing it, even when it's damp.

Instead, when your hair is wet/damp, use only a wide-tooth comb to comb through it.

However, its usually okay to comb through your hair (once again, only a widetooth comb) while you're IN the shower. I like to comb my conditioner through to make sure it gets distributed and to make sure I don't get any tangles! Is it ok to brush your hair when it's soaking wet?
brushing while wet is bad but combing while wet is just fine.

i suggest in the shower while it is dripping wet take a wide tooth comb or a pick to it.

i use a ';wet look comb'; its called, i couldnt find a picture but i got it at sallys
do it gently with a wide tooth comb starting at the bottom

If you brush your hair every time you see your hairbrush, is that weird?

yeah, it sounds weird, but every single time i see my hairbrush, i end up brushing my hair, but my hair is very soft and smooth, and straight, so is it weird??? it sounds like im obsessed:/If you brush your hair every time you see your hairbrush, is that weird?
haha i am the same way.

It isn't weird at all. :)

I got my hair chemically straightened and ever since I have been obsessed with brushing my hair cuz I couldn't before!! It isn't weird at all.If you brush your hair every time you see your hairbrush, is that weird?
no, its not that weird, like your mind, sees the hairbrush and i guess it automatically makes you pick it up and start brushing, i do that too, especially when ive just been from the hairdressers, which is even weirder because my hair is already perfect. Lols
sorta-kinda because then you are a little to obsessive and if you brush your hair too much it will fall out and most likely get greasier because the oil from your roots is spreading out to your hair...

    but....

its not unnormal because my best friend does that. but i wouldn't recommend it. lol
no it is not i do the exact same thing i end up brushing all the tangles out and that Lots tangles in my hair so i spend lots of time brushing my hair
    it sounds a little ocd

  • What's 'to brush your hair', 'to go to bed' & 'to fall asleep' in French?

It's for my school homework :SWhat's 'to brush your hair', 'to go to bed' %26amp; 'to fall asleep' in French?
to brush your hair: brosser vos cheveux

to go to bed: aller au lit

    to fall asleep: s'endormir

~Hope this Helps!!!!What's 'to brush your hair', 'to go to bed' %26amp; 'to fall asleep' in French?
    Brush your hair -

    If you're saying ';I brush my hair';, then it's ';Je brosse mes cheveux.';

Brosser is the verb, so just conjugate it to whatever you need to say.

And cheveux (hair) will always be plural, unless you're talking about a single strand of hair, so it's always les cheveux.

    To go to sleep -

    Je me couche.

    Tu te couche.

    Il se couche.

    Nous nous couchons.

    etc.

    To go to bed -

Normally, you'd just say je me couche when talking about going to bed/sleep/whatever, but if you literally want to say I go to bed, you'd say je vais au lit.
    Brush Your Hair=brossez-vous lesallez

    Go To Bed=au lit cheveux

    Fall Asleep=tombez endormi

    Hope I helped!!

If by dropping you mean shedding, then no.

Your head sheds about 50 to 100 pieces of hair a DAY. If clumps are starting to come out then its not normal and you need to go to a doctor because it could be a sign for something serious.

If not, then its normal and theres nothing that you need to worry about
uh well hair falls out every day for everyone

i guess yucould prevent some hairs from falling out by keeping your hair healthy

    like using good shampoo%26amp;conditioner

Yeahhh, its normal! Whenever you run your fingers through your hair some always seems to come out. Especially when your hair is wet..
The first few times you run the comb or brush through your hair ya...but not continuously NO! ..if it is see a doctor.
yes. you shouldn't use your fingers anyway... that is why they invented combs and brushes to simply glide through hair...
i dont kno but i hope its normal...
