Is it true that if you brush your hair 500 strokes per night it makes it smooth and soft?

I've heard this everywhere and was just wondering if it's an old wive's tale...Is it true that if you brush your hair 500 strokes per night it makes it smooth and soft?
brushing your hair more than necessary only damages it and makes it drier and have bad split ends. you should brush your hair until the brush is able to move through it without tension. i would recommend herbal essences shampoos to help your hair be healthier, and also use moisturizing hair cremes before you go to bed/or style your hairIs it true that if you brush your hair 500 strokes per night it makes it smooth and soft?
Hmm.. never heard that. But it mite be true! Because if you brush your hair every night, (straight down, tilt your head and stuff) it will get smoother and longer and healthier.
sorry to disappoint you but that's not true. Actually continual brushing is damaging to the hair and contributes to split ends and breakage.

Your best bet for smoother hair is to condition generously and apply hair serums to your hair!
No. I brush mine in the morning to get the tangles out, then brush it before I go to bed.

If your hair is healthy, it will naturally have shine and it will feel silky, the way hair is supposed to feel, it shouldn't feel like hay.

Even the cheapest shampoo can do magic to your hair. When I was younger, we used soap, the same soap we used for our laundry, we didn't have Tide just hand soap. Our hair came out just as clean and shiny. Before soap, then Shampoo was later invented.

I don't even condition my hair. If it's healthy, hair can grow down to your feet. Lucky me, we have soft water here. If traveling where they have hard water, I rinse with bottled water, just enough to get them all wet.

Brushing more, you just end up losing more.
if you brush your hair too much, it wil end up looking dull. yes, you should brush it thoroughly, but 500 strokes is WAY too much. i would recommend doing about 100 or so a night, then 20 every time you brush Your hair. you do need to distribute oils evenly, and brushing is that way to do it. i found that if i brushed my hair too much, it tangled easily, got thinner, duller, and it got all stat-icky. so, just brush it well, but not too much! you'll have beautiful hair :)
no it does the opisite. it will damage your hair. over brushing damages your hair!!!!! if you dont beleive me you could see for yourself if you brush a secton, then compare to another one, the one your brushed so maany times will have split ends.. just take a peice of your hair and fingure comb it rough for a few time then look or compare it, it will be firzzy and damamged, u can hear the damage when it happens. i never heard that b4, who ever told you was lieing.

how to brush your hair= always gentlally, never cause any pain or ripping noise. split your hair at the back for 2 parts, take the left part start at the bottom, place the hair on your arm and getnally brush starting at the bottom working up, do same to other side, dont over brush, do one final brush starting from thr top when its all done and your done.

how to prevent tangles= you can use a de tangler or africa best super gro(hair greace, a pea size amount to the roots of your hair). use saten or silk pillow cases and wrap your hair with a silk or saten hair warp when your go to sleep. when doing ativitys, put your hair up or do something with it so it wont get tangled.
